Griffin & Howe Bolt Action Sporting Rifle, c. 1930. Serial number 779, .35 Whelan caliber, blued steel barrel engraved 'No 779 GRIFFIN & HOWE, INC. NEW YORK' with stippled plateau at breech mounting folding 100, 200, 300-yard leaf sights, stippled front sight ramp leading to a shrouded bead sight; blued receiver mounted with adjustable peep sight; attractively figured walnut stock with checkering on the horn-capped fore end and steel-capped pistol grip wrist, the left side with raised cheekpiece, underside of stock with inlaid silver plate engraved 'S.H.B'; blued steel trigger guard, floor plate and butt plate, the butt plate housing a steel six-segment cleaning rod, with leather sling. Barrel lg. 22 1/2, overall lg. 43 1/4 in. **Successful bidder must arrange pickup/transfer through a federal firearms licensee.** Condition: Excellent overall condition with light thinning of bluing at the muzzle and sharp edges; stock has a few minor light scratches and blemishes from handling, horn cap has small are of insect damage, bright bore with sharp rifling, action functions properly.
